Etixx Carbo-GY Red Fruit 1000g

Carbo-Gy is a hypertonic drink. This means that the number of particles in the drink is higher than the number of particles in the blood and that its main purpose is to provide energy. Carbo-Gy contains 13.2% carbohydrates per 100 ml. It is therefore the ideal energy drink. Carbo-Gy is a hyper-concentrated carbohydrate drink that can be drunk hot or cold. The drink has a dual purpose: 1) carbohydrate replenishment and 2) energy drink during exercise.

  1. As a carbohydrate replenishment: Carbohydrate replenishment is the storage of carbohydrates (10-12g of carbohydrates per kg of body weight per day) the day before exercise, in order to have as much muscle glycogen as possible before the competition.  Carbohydrate replenishment has been shown to improve performance during prolonged exercise (marathons, triathlons, long-distance swimming) and prolong endurance in team sports with repeated high-intensity sprints (such as football).
  2. As an energy drink during exercise: Carbo-Gy is recommended during exercise in cold weather (< 10°C), when refilling energy takes precedence over refilling fluids. It is also an ideal drink for sportsmen and women who do not have much time to drink during the match (e.g. in indoor sports).

The amount of available carbohydrates is a crucial factor for performance in endurance sports and intermittent high-intensity exercise (alternating exercise and short breaks). It is therefore important to supplement carbohydrate stores before and during such exercise. They ensure that blood sugar levels are maintained during training and replenish muscle glycogen (sugar stored in the muscles). If carbohydrates were not consumed during prolonged efforts, muscle glycogen reserves would be depleted after about 90 minutes.

How much carbohydrate should be consumed during exercise?

  • Exercices < 1 h: no need to consume carbohydrates during exercise.
  • Exercices 1-2 h30g of corbohydrates per hour of exercise.
  • Exercices 2-3 h60g of corbohydrates per hour of exercise.
  • Exercices >2,5-3 h: up to 90g of carbohydrates per hour of exercise.

Who should use Etixx Carbo Gy?

The Etixx Carbo Gy supplies carbohydrates in large doses and therefore is suitable for anyone that needs to take on large amounts of fuel. This might be in preparation for intense endurance events such as triathlons, marathons and cycling sportives or might be during a heavy training block for team sports such as rugby. This drink can be used pre-training to maximise fuel storesor during training to keep your fuel stores topped up. It can also be drank warm, making it an ideal fuel for training and competing in cold weather.

Etixx Carbo Gy Instructions

As a carbo-loader 70g (4 scoops) in 500ml of water
BEFORE (1.5-4h for*) 70g (4 scoops) in 500ml of water
DURING 70g (4 scoops) in 500ml of water **

* On the day of the competition it is recommended to drink Carbo-Gy during the pre-competition meal. This can be either as a cold drink or as a hot fruit tea.

** During the competition and training Carbo-Gy is suitable in cold weather and when time for drinking and eating is limited.

 

This powder preparation is a drink fortified with carbohydrates and vitamins for sportspeople. A varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important. We recommend not to exceed the daily recommended dose. Suitable for persons as of 13 years of age.
